The National Park Service has released its June 2008 newsletter providing updates on last season's 2007-2008 winter use, as well as the status of pending litigation over the 2007 Final Environmental Impact Statement, November 2007 Record of Decision and the December 2007 Final Rule. You can download the complete newsletter here.

Listed below are a few important highlights from the letter:
  • On litigation, the International Snowmobile Manufacturers Assocation (ISMA), the BlueRibbon Coalition (BRC), and the American Council of Snowmobile Associations (ACSA) have moved to intervene in the four lawsuits. We will have a seat at the table during the legal process in both Wyoming and Washington D.C.
  • An important change for next season is the Sylvan Pass issue. The City of Cody, Park County and the State of Wyoming have been successful in getting Yellowstone National Park to agree to some very important recommendations that will allow, if accepted, the East Gate to remain open for winter access.
The Yellowstone Winter Use Season will be from December 15th to March 15th, assuming adequate snow cover.
